R-Evolution in Dance
A dance history paper exploring the genesis of eclectic choreography from Serge Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes and George Balanchine’s Apollon Musagéte. It is easy to perceive eclectic choreography as a catalyst for contemporary and other modern dance art forms. Classical Ballet; the hierarchy of dance technique and foundation for movement principles has proven over the years to not only be consistent with it’s conventional traditions, but a juxtaposition for the avant-garde innovators.
